If you had to explain your work to a stranger, how would you do it?
It's something you didn't know you already knew until you saw it: familiar and strange. It's how you would tie your shoes if you melted your hands to a plastic truck. It's where you would go if you could be everywhere at once. It's a dark place where neon fires light the walls.

I want to dream about places like this and be the girl emerging from the tank.
The overwhelming presence of the sky, makes me feel like the world inside the photo is contained and controlled space.
Seeing the children, I take on a child-like interpretation on what is happening and everything seems to slow down inside the photo.
Lately, I've seen much juxtaposing of machines and nature. Here it's machines and childhood. Interesting....
When I first saw these photos, I wanted to evaporate into his play world of the carnival. Usually, carnivals remind me of dirtiness and chaos. I'm sure those things are still present, but I would be willing to ignore them for the pleasure of emerging from that tank or spinning through the sky on a swing.

I mentioned Evan's work back in November for a show at the Johansons Project. And, he's showing again in SF this month!
Evan has no formal arts background and began drawing because he enjoys it. Uhhh...proof that doing what you are interested in will more than likely lead to something greater in your life. 
I have this thing for children's book illustrations and think these would be great for that.
