I'm trying something new with how I document exhibits. You may have seen these little gadgets already and be using one yourself, the Flip video recorder. It could be compared to a camera phone in its accessibility and convenience. It's perfect for me, being someone who doesn't care for distracting cameras and other equipment at busy opening receptions.
But, I don't have much prior experience with video and am realizing that, as I begin to work with it more. Regardless, I like it and want to incorporate video to this blog more. So, bear with me. I thought this mini virtual tour of Suzanne Husky's exhibit, "You Make Me You" at Triple Base, was a good starting point for content and more on the rough side for my technique. If anything, this will hopefully compel you to get over to the exhibit yourself and see it in person for all its greatness!

Jeremy is known for his magical images, vibrant colors, and hallucinatory films. Trained as a painter at CCA, he went on to produce films of varying lengths for folks like David Berman and Beck.

His last project, Glitterbest a film about Malcom McLaren, stays unfinished after his death in June 2007.

He is from a town 5min from Detroit, which he talks about in another clip. The basis of his work comes from his "belief that many of the ills plaguing our society can be attributed to the lack of meaningful communication occurring between people," which he alludes to existing in Detroit.

"Michal Budny creates sophisticated, meticulous, reconstructions of objects and shapes taken from the immediate contemporary environment (postcards, advertisements, mobile phones, CD players etc.). Small, light objects made of cardboard and other kinds of paper, which is often yellowed with age, are strikingly noble and reserved in their nearly abstract form. It seems that we are dealing with timeless models of things, devoid of utility value that become the quintessence of form and time accumulated. In his recent works, Michal tries to cut out and glue together natural phenomena, which do not have a specific physical form, such as voice, rain or fog."
