World Records

Artist: Maria Forde
Space: Curiosity Shoppe

When I first encountered Maria Forde's work at Little Tree Gallery a few years back I was struck by how clearly the viewer could see the artist's hand in the work. That characteristic sets her works close to craft pieces without being one. In this show, I like the parody she's made on the desire to publicly display human achievement through her raw drawings of what may have originally been photographic images. They're playful through her lack of technicality and relatable in the way children's drawings speak to people.
